Program Survey
Each year, the Coalition collects tax season data from its affiliates, and uses that data for research, building support for the EITC in Congress, and demonstrating the impact of our programs to funders.
2007 Program Self-Assessment Survey
The National Program Survey for 2007 tax season is now closed. Thanks to the 120 programs which submitted data.
We will publish results in December, 2007, and update our Program Locator (based on data from the survey) in November.
Please participate in our 2008 survey, opening in May, 2008.
Submit your tax return data to the 2007 survey now. We will collect financial services and asset building data through a separate survey later in the year.
To make it easier for you to extract data from TaxWise (desktop) we provide a data collection tool, a customized report you can insert into TaxWise to report on aggregate data. We also provide instructions for using the tool. We recommend that you download the questions and assemble the data in advance of starting the survey.
Aggregate Data from 2006 NCTC National Program Survey
To better understand the aggregate impact of the Coalition’s more than 500 affiliates, a national survey was disseminated during the summer of 2006. Programs reported on the free tax preparation and asset building activities during the January–April, 2006 tax filing season.
A total of 81 surveys were completed, which came from organizations in 31 states. The 81 programs counted included most of the large urban-based programs.

NCTC uses the data to develop the field of free tax preparation and asset building by:
- raising funds to support national conference, pilot projects and technical assistance
- conducting research studies
- working with affiliates to strengthen and protect the EITC in Congress and state Capitols
- lobbying for federal funding for free tax preparation programs
